The call that went wildly off-script

Had a customer today who seemed to confuse our customer service line with a therapy session. They spent 20 minutes discussing their pet iguana’s anxiety before we even got to the actual issue. I have to admit, it was hard not to laugh while trying to maintain service professionalism! Anyone else ever dealt with a call like that?

I once had a call where the customer needed to vent about their cat’s jealousy for almost 30 minutes! It’s tough to balance professionalism and humor. Anyone else had to redirect a similar conversation? :joy:.

I’ve had more than my fair share of ‘pet therapy’ calls too. It’s like being a bartender for emotions instead of tech support! Maybe next time, I’ll ask if they need a support group for anxious iguanas — wouldn’t that be a fun side hustle?
