Posted a 7:02 a.m. apology after our app choked, pinned it, then spent 14 minutes answering 47 “refund?” comments while rewriting canned responses in Sprout to keep the brand’s reputation from catching fire. Anyone else feel the real job is calming the thread, not writing the post?
And i keep one rolling-update comment I edit every 15 minutes and use a refund macro that adds the status page and the next ETA; it cut the duplicate asks in half. > feel the real job is calming the thread, not writing the post? Totally — and if you skip the ETA in each reply the loop restarts; do you pin the rolling update or keep it in-thread?
I pin a mini-FAQ comment linking https://status.company.com and the refund form; halves repeats — auto-tag ‘refund’?
, that 7:02 a.m. scramble is a mood. I set a Sprout rule to post one public nudge per user when it sees ‘refund?’ — ‘DMing you now — status: https://status.company.com’ — then move the rest to DMs, which cools the visible pile-on; tiny caveat: throttle it so it doesn’t feel spammy. @OP have you tried the per-user cap in Automated Rules?
I add a one-liner to the pin like “DM incoming for refunds; ETA updates below every 10 min,” then react to each “refund?” with
when queued and
when done; that cut repeats by a lot during a 7:02 a.m… fire drill. Small caveat: if your crowd reads reactions as snark, switch to a two‑word reply like “Queued — DM” to keep it clear — have you noticed reactions shortening that 14‑minute dogpile?
